FAQ

What is the difference between paid and free participation?
Paid format of participation is aimed at improving the skills of participants. Developers receive assignments, tips and guidelines from a team of IT market experts and Championship partners. Participants of this format receive assignments throughout the Championship, regardless of ratings. 30% of the participants (but not more than 30 people) with the highest ratings will get to the finals.
 
Free participation does not involve constant mentoring. Developers solve assignments from Ukrainian start-ups. Throughout the Championship participants in this format pass the stages of selection and accumulate points for the completed assignments. 30% of participants (but no more than 30 people) with the highest scores will get to the finals, which they will be teamed up depending on the specifics of the assignment, level and specialization. To participate in the free format, you must complete online qualification.

 

How much time does it take to comlete an assignment?
The time to complete an assignment depends on the knowledge and skills of the developer. On average, completion of the test assignment takes up to 30 minutes, the first round assignment - up to 4 hours, the second round assignment - up to 6 hours. Completing an assignment in the final for participants in the standard format depends on the project of the Ukrainian start-up, for participants in the advanced format it takes up to 8 hours.
 
Do DEV Challenge finalists of the previous seasons have to pass qualification?
The finalists of the previous Championships should not qualify. But semi-finalists should on general basis qualify for participation in the standard format.

Where can the works of participants and winners of the last season be viewed?
Assignments and work at all stages of the last season are located in the section Summary 11 on the official website of the Championship.
 
I have a question regarding the assignment. How quickly will I get a response?
Clarifying questions pertaining to the assignments are to be sent via the form in the assignment text. Answers are provided within 24 hours. Questions to the organizers may be sent via the link form.
 
How is the team united during the final for standard format participants?
Teams are formed depending on the specifics of the assignment, the level of participants and their specialization. The division into the teams is arranged by the organizer on the day of the final.

How are the assignments checked?
Completed assignments are sent via a special form in the Personal Office.
The evaluation criteria and the principle of rating points are given in the assignment itself. Score points can take into account both technical conditions and expert evaluation.
For objective evaluation all participants' works are encrypted. Participants are prohibited from indicating their personal data incompleted assignment. Such works will be disqualified.
 
Who may participate in the Championship?
Persons who have reached the age of 14 are allowed to participate in the Championship.

Is it necessary to drive somewhere?
Registration, qualification and two rounds of the competition take place online. The final is held offline in Kyiv city.
 
How will I receive assignments?
Assignments are sent to the Personal Account of the participant, which becomes available after registration in the Championship. In some stages, participants can choose one of several proposed assignments. However, it is not allowed to change of the already received or selected assignment.
